Chinese traditional festival - Ching Ming Festival
Tomb-sweeping Festival, also known as Qingming Festival and Cold Food Festival, is one of the traditional Chinese festivals. It is held around April 4 or 5 in the Gregorian calendar every year, which is the Qingming solar term.
The origin of the Ching Ming Festival can be traced back to ancient times. It was originally established to worship ancestors and visit graves. In ancient times, people believed that relatives who passed away still needed food, clothing, money, etc. in the underworld. Therefore, on the day of Ching Ming Festival, people would go to the cemetery of their ancestors, tidy up the graves, sweep weeds, and offer sacrifices such as flowers, food, and paper money. A gift to express the memory of a loved one who has passed away.
In addition to tomb-sweeping worship, Qingming Festival also has some other traditional customs. Such as outings, this is because the Ching Ming Festival coincides with spring, the climate is pleasant, and all things are revived. People can go to the suburbs to enjoy flowers, scenery, and picnics. In addition, the Cold Food Festival is also an important part of the Qingming Festival. The Cold Food Festival is the day before the Qingming Festival. People will eat cold food, which means remembering the lost relatives.
In short, Qingming Festival is a traditional festival for worshiping ancestors, remembering deceased relatives, and enjoying flowers. It is an important part of Chinese national culture and one of the ways for people to express love and respect.
